70% of people can't access or afford
the depression support they want and need.
Our sustainable solution: We empower individuals and communities to help themselves through a volunteer-run, peer-led public mental health program*
We empower "everyday heroes" from diverse backgrounds and professions with lived experience of depression and recovery to positively transform the wellbeing of their own peers by training them to lead LiveWell depression support groups-- unique psychoeducational groups that teach people the skills they need to reduce symptoms and relapses of depression, and to increase wellbeing.
Our peer-led, curriculum-based support groups are always FREE: no health insurance or referral required. Community-based local groups are open to the public and walk-ins welcome. Online groups are easy to access from anywhere!
*Peer-led interventions are not only a cost-effective way to reach a wide and diverse population, but they are also proven to be as effective as psychotherapy for the longterm treatment of depression.
"The LiveWell Foundation's work is very important, and should make a real impact on [the treatment of] chronic depression."
-- Dr. Aaron T. Beck, MD, the 'father' of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dedicated to reducing the impact that depression has on our society, the LiveWell Foundation aims to raise public awareness and understanding of depression, and to create innovative peer-led solutions for helping people live well.
Our nonprofit organization works to:
Ensure all people living with depression have equal access to relevant and effective mental health care
Increase access to depression support through a diverse range of peer-led, community-based interventions that are free and open to the public
Transform lives through the LiveWell Program©: a one-of-a-kind, psychoeducational behavioral health curriculum
Advocate for peer-led interventions to become a routine part of depression treatment
Reduce the stigma of depression (and its related mental health issues)
