70% of people can't access or afford
the depression support they want and need.
Our sustainable solution:
Empowering communities to help themselves through a volunteer, peer-run public mental health program*
We empower "everyday heroes" from diverse backgrounds and professions with lived experience of depression and recovery to positively transform the wellbeing of their own communities by training them to lead local LiveWell depression support groups-- unique psychoeducational behavioral health groups designed to teach people the skills they need to reduce symptoms and relapses of depression, and to increase wellbeing.
Our peer-led, community-based support groups are always FREE and open to the public: no health insurance or referral required, and walk-ins welcome.
*Peer-led interventions are not only a cost-effective way to reach a wide and diverse population, but they are also proven to be as effective as psychotherapy for the longterm treatment of depression.
Dedicated to reducing the impact that depression has on our communities, the LiveWell Foundation aims to raise public awareness and understanding of depression, and to seek innovative solutions for helping people live well.
The LiveWell Foundation works to:
Ensure all people living with depression have equal access to effective mental health services
Increase access to depression support through peer-led, community-based interventions that are free and open to the public
Transform lives through the LiveWell Program©: a one-of-a-kind, psychoeducational behavioral health curriculum
Advocate for peer-led interventions to become a routine part of depression treatment
Reduce the stigma of depression (and its related mental health issues)
-- Dr. Aaron T. Beck, MD, the 'father' of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
"The LiveWell Foundation's work is very important, and should make a real impact on [the treatment of] chronic depression."
