About the event
We all have a (mental health or other meaningful) story to tell. This introductory class offers easy, practical, and wide-ranging techniques for translating personal life experience into compelling visual narrative stories.
NO DRAWING SKILL IS NECESSARY. All that you need to bring to this class is curiosity, enthusiasm, and a desire to find out what happens at the intersection of words and images. By the end of this workshop, each participant will have completed their own visual narrative story.
INSTRUCTOR: Emily Steinberg is a multi-disciplinary artist. Since 2013, her visual narratives have been regularly published in Cleaver Magazine, where she also is the visual narrative editor. Her cartoon and Daily Shouts story were recently published byThe New Yorker. Emily is a lecturer in Fine Arts at Penn State, and teaches visual narrative to medical students at Drexel College.
